Ephitaph of Chess Pieces

YEAR, LAUNCH

2025, New York

Inspired by the linguistic roots of her name —"Zi" (紫), meaning purple, and "Yi" (弈), signifying the art of playing chess—this series delves into themes of memory, loss, power, and the delicate boundary between remembrance and oblivion. Each chess piece serves as a metaphor, symbolizing life's decisions and the emotions tied to them. Audience interactions shape the narrative, turning every move into an inscription and each captured piece into a digital epitaph. Even misplaced moves and fallen pawns are honored in this poetic ceremony—an elegy dedicated to the anonymous and overlooked.
